2018 National Competition

The Westchester Region NAACP – National Association for the Advancement of Colored People – ACT-SO Coalition was proud to send eight regional gold medalists to compete at the 40th NAACP ACT-SO National Competition that was held this year in San Antonio. Seven hundred talented students from all across the country came and competed in 32 different categories in the areas of Performing Arts, Visual Arts, STEM (Science,Technology, Engineering and Math) and Entrepreneurship.

Students who represented the Westchester Region were, Lia Aleman (Dance), Sophomore, PortChester High School, Clifford Campbell (Music Vocal Contemporary), Freshman, Mount Vernon Performing and Visual Arts Magnet School, Olivia Cook (Music Instrumental Contemporary), Freshman, The Ursuline School, Kellen Cooks (Earth Space and Sciences), Junior, Ossining High School, Sarah Corp(Poetry Performed), Junior, Alexander Hamilton High School, Brigitte Alberghini-Davis (Photography), Junior, Ossining High School, Federico Grullon (Entrepreneurship), Sophomore, Ossining High School and, Craig Murray (Music Instrumental Classical), Junior, Horace Mann High School.

The Westchester Region is happy to announce that students, Craig Murray and Kellen Cooks were awarded gold medals in their categories and a monetary award in the amount of $2,500 and Brigitte Alberghini-Davis was awarded a silver medal with a monetary award of $1,500. All three also received an Apple, “iPad 6th Generation”
