As an example, it is difficult to secure lab facilities for students competing in the sciences, or video equipment for filmmakers. With greater resources we could address these deficiencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WRACT-SO would benefit from direct financial funding as well as from in-kind services and volunteer efforts in the following areas:In-kind Services and Gifts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Printing of ACT-SO promotional materials, stationery, certificates<\/li><li>Equipment (DVD\/VCR, monitor, cameras, computers)<\/li><li>Access to technical facilities for science and visual arts students<\/li><li>Orientation receptions for recruiting coaches, judges and other sponsors<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Career Development for ACT-SO participants:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Summer internships<\/li><li>Student symposiums on: college selection, application procedures and securing financial assistance; writing resumes and interviewing; developing confidence, professionalism and other business skills<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Volunteers to assist with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Enrichment Workshops \u2013 Coaching and mentoring the students<\/li><li>Outreach \u2013 \u201cAdopt-a-School\u201d recruiting of students from Westchester County high schools<\/li><li>Judging \u2013 Recruiting and judging of student projects (by qualified professionals with appropriate experience and\/or educational background)<\/li><li>Competition \u2013 Setup, registration, category facilitators, lunch coordination and other activities<\/li><li>Awards Ceremony \u2013 Event Coordination and planning and general production activities<\/li><li>Media \u2013 Collaboration throughout the program year to expand student outreach, community involvement and public awareness<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What we could accomplish with greater resources: WRACT-SO is frequently unable to provide support to students proposing technical projects.
